Grandaddy was so proud of his carpet serger until he died/still under investigation
Bindings & Serging Binding the edge of a rug in polyester or cotton is generally the most basic way to finish an area rug. It keeps the rug from fraying and offers protection from daily wear. Serging is a more formal option than binding, as it appears as continuous stitches sewn around the rug edges. Wide binding is a fabric or leather strip applied with a “blind-stitch” from 1”- 3” in from the rug edge, then wrapped over & under the edge of the rug and adhered.
